My take

Utilizing the STRING technique is something new I’ve learned, where we can basically create our own network of known cardiac genes as anchors and leverage our way into finding novel players. There’s this software called STRING in which we can link genes to see if they have any “neighbors” that are functionally linked, for example this paper had 886 genes which contained predicted rare disease causing variants. Then they combined these with 452 known CHD genes, then they used the STRING for protein interaction analysis and retained 86 genes that At least interacted with 2 CHD genes.
